All children need their mother and father in their lives, that goes without saying. However, the presence of a strong male role model makes the difference in growing up and developing a man. Remember, BOYZ n the HOOD? Tre had to leave his mother and move in with his father as an adolescent because they understood the importance of having a fathers presence. And ultimately it made the difference in the peer pressures and dangers of the neighborhood. No disrespect to the mother's out there and especially the single mothers who play both roles.
